SNOHOMISH — An Everett man was stabbed with a knife early Thursday morning, just two blocks away from a brawl that drew around 50 onlookers, said Snohomish police Cmdr. Fred Havener.
The 21-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and rushed into emergency surgery, Havener said. He was in critical, but stable condition later in the day.
As of Thursday afternoon, police hadn’t been able to interview the man and were still trying to determine if the stabbing was related to the brawl.
Police found the man at 2 a.m. on First Street about a half block east of Avenue A in downtown Snohomish.
The fight broke out around 1:15 a.m. on First Street between Union Avenue and Avenue A. Between 12 and 15 people participated, Havener said.
Detectives aren’t sure if the fight began in one of the area’s three bars or in the street. Nearly everyone involved appeared to be intoxicated, Havener said.
The fighters appeared to be between the ages of 21 and 35, he said.
A 26-year-old Snohomish County man injured in the fight was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center.
Police questioned and released two other men Thursday morning.
“It was a very dangerous situation,” Havener said.
