Marysville Community Food Bank volunteer honored

Amy Howell was presented with the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award on April 9 at the Governor’s Mansion in Olympia in recognition for her service at the Marysville Community Food Bank, particularly her work for the weekend food backpack program for school children called Food For Thought.
Through Howell’s efforts over the last six years, the program has grown from 18 students served at Liberty Elementary School to over 600 students at 23 schools in the Marysville and Lakewood school districts, said Dell Deierling, food bank director.
