EVERETT — A memorial service for fallen Everett police officer Dan Rocha is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, the police department announced Tuesday.
Rocha, 41, was shot and killed in the line of duty Friday near Everett Community College. The suspected shooter, Richard Rotter, of Kennewick, had a history of fleeing police.
Hundreds of people paid their respects to the slain officer Saturday, leaving bouquets at the Everett Police Department’s north precinct and outside the Starbucks where Rocha died.
Monday’s memorial in the arena at 2000 Hewitt Ave. will be open to the public.
The city of Everett also set up a memorial fund for the fallen officer. Donations are accepted through an online form, at a Coastal Community Bank branch and the city clerk’s office.
There will also be a candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the north precinct, 3002 Wetmore Ave., hosted by the Cruzin’ to Colby organization.
