BOTHELL — Another weekend of closures is set for I-405 near Bothell.
The northbound lanes of I-405 will be closed from Highway 522 to Highway 527 from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for repavement work. A signed detour will be in place during the closure.
During a recent closure of the southbound I-405 lanes for the same project, the state Department of Transportation was able to reopen the road early.
The work is part of the I-405/Brickyard to Highway 527 Improvement Project covering about 4½ miles near the border of Snohomish and King counties. It’s expected to be completed by 2028. The $834 million project will add a second toll lane on I-405 and improve access to Sound Transit’s Stride bus rapid transit system.
The project will also address aging infrastructure and fix multiple fish barriers, according to the transportation department. It will also add sound walls and includes stormwater work.
Southbound I-405 will also be closed near Renton this weekend from Sunset Boulevard NE (Exit 5) to Highway 167 beginning 11:59 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. Workers on that section will replace pavement panels and install drainage, a state transportation press release said.
