ARLINGTON — A motorcycle rider died in a crash with a car Sunday on Pioneer Highway near Smokey Point.
The collision happened around 3 p.m. in the 1800 block of Pioneer Highway, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said. The motorcycle driver, a 50-year-old man, was hospitalized and died.
No one in the car was injured.
Witnesses told investigators the motorcycle was speeding and trying to pass several vehicles when the crash happened, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The road was blocked at 15th Avenue Northeast for eastbound traffic and just west of I-5 for westbound traffic so detectives could investigate the scene.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man as well as the cause and manner of death.
