MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A motorcyclist died Wednesday and a driver was arrested after a collision at the intersection of 212th Street SW and 44th Avenue W, police said.
The 32-year-old man was traveling west on 212th Street SW when he tried to beat a red light and drove through the intersection at 44th Avenue W, Mountlake Terrace police Chief Pete Caw said.
As the light changed, an SUV traveling east on 212th Street SW crashed into the motorcycle as the car made the turn onto 44th Avenue W. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, Caw said.
Police believe the car had the right of way when making the turn, Caw said.
Afterward, police noted the driver of the SUV appeared to be intoxicated. She was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and reckless endangerment. Officers booked her into the Snohomish County Jail.
