LYNNWOOD — An investigation into two shootings last week led police to a house in Lynnwood, and two 16-year-old boys were arrested.
Detectives believe they found information that links the shootings, according to a Lynnwood Police Department news release. Earlier, police had not found any clear connection.
Detectives staked out the residence Friday night and into Saturday. When they saw suspects they previously identified enter the house, officers from Lynnwood and neighboring jurisdictions were called to the 17300 block of 52nd Avenue W.
They closed off the street and surrounded the house for hours Saturday afternoon.
Several people came out of the house voluntarily. Others attempted to flee and were detained. One of the 16-year-old suspects was booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of assault in the first degree and unlawful possession of a firearm, police said. A charge of unlawful possession of a firearm is being recommended for the other teenager.
With a warrant in hand, a SWAT team searched the house. No one was injured during the standoff Saturday.
The shootings took place just hours apart Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
The first shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m.Wednesday at the intersection of Olympic View and Blue Ridge drives. A 22-year-old man was shot in the arm and an 18-year-old woman was shot in the neck and back. At the time, police believed there were two shooters and that the two parties arranged a drug deal.
The second shooting was reported around 12:30 a.m. Thursday about a mile away, near 173rd Place Southwest and 60th Avenue West. Someone in a vehicle shot at a man looking for his dog. A bullet grazed his back and he was taken to a nearby hospital.
