Michael Reid writes: “Since the signs have been put up, I have always wanted to know the answer to this question. On the border of Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace on 212th Street (the streets are going east and west), between 48th and 52nd, there are do not cross the street signs. But from 48th and 44th streets there are no signs. Why is that?”
Janet Hall, Mountlake Terrace’s traffic engineer, responds: “The signs were installed in 2013 as part of a street overlay project. There are vertical curves along 212th Street SW which result in limited sight distance. Crossing 212th Street SW at 48th Avenue W has better sight distance than at intersections to the west of 48th Avenue W. No signs were placed between 48th Avenue W and 44th Avenue W because there are no streets between those intersections, only driveways.”
