One treated for smoke inhalation in fire that damaged Lynnwood apartment

LYNNWOOD — A fire on Tuesday caused about $160,000 damage to a Lynnwood apartment and its contents, officials said Wednesday.

The fire was reported around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

It started in the kitchen of an apartment in the 4900 block of 168th Street SW.

The entire unit sustained heat and smoke damage, according to the Lynnwood Fire Department.

One person was taken to Swedish/Edmonds hospital for smoke inhalation. A cat died in the fire.

The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross was on scene to help the displaced family.

Twenty-eight firefighters and medics responded to the call.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
