EVERETT — Planning department staff will hold an open house to discuss the update to Everett’s comprehensive plan, set to be completed by May.
The open house will be held at 6 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Weyerhauser Room in Everett Station.
Everett, like other fast-growing Washington cities, are required by the state’s Growth Management Act to update comprehensive plans once per decade to serve as a road map for the city’s plans over the next 20 years. The city’s released the previous version of its comprehensive plan in 2015, planning for 2035.
Everett needs to plan to build enough housing to accommidate another 69,000 people by 2044. The plan is also set create goals for addressing climate change, transporatation improvements and more.
A briefing on the comprehensive plan is also scheduled for Wednesday’s City Council meeting.
