Bothell: Update set on senior center

Northshore Senior Center executive director Lee Harper is planning to update the Bothell City Council about activities and issues at the center.

The meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bothell Municipal Court, 10116 NE 183rd St.

More than 7,000 seniors each year participate in activities at the center, which has more than 1,000 volunteers and 5,000 members.

The center serves Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville and Juanita, Mill Creek, northeast King County, and southern Snohomish County.

Edmonds: Old mall options considered

Part of the old antique mall site near the waterfront in downtown Edmonds could someday be converted to parkland.

The Edmonds City Council plans to discuss adding a downtown park at the site of the old mall during the council’s retreat Feb. 1 and 2.

Meanwhile, Port of Edmonds officials are planning to be at Tuesday’s City Council meeting to discuss other redevelopment plans for the city’s waterfront.

The City Council meeting is 7 p.m. at the Edmonds Public Safety Complex, 250 Fifth Ave. N.

Mountlake Terrace: City studies green for its future growth

Planning for future development that incorporates environmental protection is expected to be the goal of a city-hired consultant for the next six months.

The firm, Berk and Associates, of Seattle, has been hired to help the city prepare its strategy for future growth. The city received a $52,500 grant from the state to pay for the planning of its environmentally friendly growth strategy.

The firm is likely to seek public input during the course of its work.

Monroe: U.S. 2 safety group to meet

The U.S. 2 Safety Coalition is set to meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Monroe Public Library, 1070 Village Way, to discuss its strategy to win money for their highway at the 2008 Legislature.

The group of local residents, officials and business people used to meet in Sultan, but it will meet in Monroe from now on, said Fred Walser, the coalition’s chairman. Some family members of crash victims on the dangerous, congested highway are expected to attend the meeting, Walser said.
