EVERETT — A man was killed when a vehicle struck him as he walked along Highway 99 south of Everett on Saturday morning, state police say.
Glenn Starks, 50, was on the shoulder near the highway’s intersection with Manor Way, just south of Everett in unincorporated Snohomish County, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol. Around 8:15 a.m. Saturday, a northbound beige 2006 Pontiac G6 left the roadway and struck Starks before coming to a stop in a nearby parking lot, the memo said.
Starks, a resident of Mesa, Arizona, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle ran away, according to a Tweet by Washington State Police spokesperson Kelsey Harding.
The right lane of the highway was closed following the incident until about 2 p.m. as state troopers investigated the scene, Harding tweeted.
Police seek further information about the man driving the car. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about the driver is encouraged to call 911.
