Planning to run for office? File by Friday

The filing period for candidates for the 2010 election season begins Monday and runs through Friday.

Those seeking federal, state and local offices can file in person or online. Most also must pay a fee equal to 1 percent of the salary of the position they seek. Those can be paid online, and no refunds will be given.

Those running for Congress, state Supreme Court and seats in the 1st, 10th, 32nd and 39th legislative districts file with the Secretary of State.

Those vying for seats in the 21st, 38th and 44th legislative districts, Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney, District Court, Snohomish County Public Utility District and precinct committee officers file with the county auditor.

The primary election is Aug. 17.
