EVERETT — Police continued this week to investigate the fatal shooting of a 51-year-old man in south Everett earlier this month.
Around 2 a.m. Sept. 1, witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot in the the 8700 block of 5th Avenue W, Everett police officer Natalie Given said. When police arrived, they found Christopher Guerrero dead in the parking lot of an apartment building, Given said. Investigators provided no further details about the shooting.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Guerrero died of a gunshot wound. The office determined his death was a homicide.
Detectives continued investigating the shooting as a crime this week, but had no details about the potential shooter, Given said Thursday. They encouraged anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Everett Police Department at 425-257-8450.
After previously living in Florida and Michigan, Guerrero had lived in Everett for the past dozen years, an obituary noted. For a decade, he’d worked as a computer drafting engineer at Boeing. He enjoyed playing video games and going to car shows.
He was survived by his two daughters, three grandchildren, father and four brothers, the obituary stated.
