LAKE STEVENS — Police rescued a woman found submerged in her car in Lake Stevens on Friday morning, officials said.
At 10:48 a.m., a witness reported a car with its nose in the water off North Cove Park, said Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue spokesperson Peter Mongillo. The witness couldn’t tell if anyone was in the car.
A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy and a Lake Stevens police officer responded to the park. Finding the vehicle submerged about 20 yards from the boat launch, they dove into the water and pulled a woman in her 70s from the water, Mongillo said.
The woman was blue, unresponsive and had no pulse, Mongillo said. Paramedics provided CPR and were able to regain a pulse. The woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
It was unclear how the car ended up in the water, Mongillo said.
The spokesperson noted the woman regaining her pulse “doesn’t mean they’re out of the woods yet.” He applauded the deputy and officer for jumping into the water.
“If they didn’t do their actions, this would’ve been a different outcome,” he said.
