Port Gardner ‘gabber’ goes on semifinals for speech contest

Joseph Carty, of Everett, bested seven other local contestants to win a district-level competition of the Toastmasters International Speech Contest. Carty advances to the semifinal rounds of the contest, vying for one of 10 spots in the World Championship of Public Speaking, to be held at the Toastmasters International Convention on Aug. 25 in Chicago.
Carty is a member of the Port Gardner Bay Gabbers. He works as an engineer at Boeing.
