GRANITE FALLS — More than 25,000 homes lost power Wednesday evening in communities stretching from Granite Falls to Snohomish.
The outage was blamed on a tree falling over a major transmission line around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Snohomish County Public Utility District.
About 28,000 customers in Granite Falls, Lake Stevens and Snohomish lost power.
By 6 p.m., crews reduced the number to 12,000.
An hour later, the number was whittled to 6,800.
The remaining homes were restored overnight.
