GOLD BAR — U.S. 2 travelers will need to find a detour during overnight closures Wednesday and Thursday near Gold Bar.
The Snohomish County Public Utility District is closing a stretch of the highway, including a bridge over the Skykomish River, so crews can replace poles damaged during a storm in December.
The closure will be between 178th Street SE and Reiter Road. Emergency vehicles can get through, but everyone else will be rerouted from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. both days.
Drivers’ best bet for a detour, other than taking a different mountain pass, will be Reiter Road and Avenue A in Index.
