CAMANO ISLAND — A local meat processing company has issued a recall for about 1,250 pounds of meat due to possible staphylococcal enterotoxin contamination.
The toxin is linked to food poisoning and gastrointestinal diseases. The recall affects “Heat Treated, Not Fully Cooked, Not Shelf Stable” meat products from German Sausage Haus LLC, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service. The recall was announced over the weekend.
The products, which include smoked bacon, shank, fat, pork loin, ribs and multiple varieties of sausages, were packaged between June 14 and Sept. 8. The products have “Est. 45952” inside the USDA inspection mark. The meat would have been shipped to retail stores in Washington.
The problem that might have caused contamination was discovered Sept. 14 by an inspector.
