EVERETT — Rumors of a kidnapping in Everett earlier this month have proven to be false, according to a police department statement issued Tuesday.

“It has been concluded that the rumors of a kidnapping were false and no crime occurred in the area of Lincoln Field,” Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.

The supposed kidnapping led to police issuing a missing-and-endangered bulletin for an Everett High School sophomore who did not return home on March 17. She was found safe two days later. There was an apparent miscommunication between the family and the police department.

“The case is closed with no further information to be released,” Snell said.
