Artist’s influence goes beyond art

I would like to thank Tony Dondero for his article in the June 17 Enterprise: “Artist’s hawk covers the gray,” regarding Andrew Morrison’s red hawk mural painted at Mountlake Terrace Elementary School. It’s great when our local paper can do a story that shows how important art can be in engaging and enriching the lives in our community.

I’m impressed and honored we have such a talented and accomplished artist living in Mountlake Terrace.

Andrew Morrison is not only living his dream, but sharing his passion and giving back to his community. He leads by example and is a great mentor to youth in our city. As the article states in reference to Andrew’s Hawk Mural: “The students have rallied around it. It’s a real source of pride for them.”

As an educator for the past 20 years, my experience has taught me that when we can interact with youth the way Andrew has, then we have given them much more than a beautiful mural on an old gray wall.

Thank You!
