Seattle man charged in rooming house attacks

SEATTLE — Prosecutors have charged a 35-year-old Seattle man with one count of first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree burglary with sexual motivation as police investigate assaults in large rooming houses near the University of Washington campus.

The Seattle Times reported that Onelio Abun Cardona-Hernandez was charged Tuesday. He’s accused of rape and burglary with sexual motivation in a Dec. 11 sexual assault. He’s also charged with burglary with sexual motivation at the same house Jan. 9, involving a second woman. A third charge of burglary with sexual motivation involves a Jan. 17 attack on a third woman at a different rooming house.

Arrested Friday, the man was ordered held on $1 million bail. His arraignment is scheduled for May 21.
