MOUNT VERNON — A northwest Washington teen is being held on $250,000 bail while authorities investigate his reported Facebook threat to “shoot up every school within a 100-mile radius” if his gun rights were taken away in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting.

The Skagit Valley Herald reported that county District Court Commissioner Linford Smith set bail for the 19-year-old on Monday. The Sedro-Woolley man has not yet been charged with a crime.

He was arrested for investigation of harassment threats to kill. In a Friday evening Facebook post, he reportedly referred to the young Connecticut man blamed for killing 20 children and six adults at a school, his mother and himself as “a hero in my eyes.”

The newspaper said authorities and local schools are taking the threats seriously. Some schools reported extra security Monday.
