50 years ago (1963)

A $350 scholarship for sophomore women at Everett Junior College was established by the Soroptimists of Everett. It would be awarded annually to a woman with a grade point average of 2.75 or better who planned to continue her education at a four-year institution. Gilbert Carbone of the college went over the details with Soroptimist members Kay Dykstra and Jean Jefferson.

Everett Bridge Club master point winners Sunday were Jerry Dezotell, Don Jacobsen, Mark Bailey, John Kamb, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boone, Carl Hansen, Huntly Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Herriman, Bonnie Hjort, Barry Bailey, Maud Call, Betty LeGros and Dr. and Mrs. A.E. Venables.

25 years ago (1988)

Wealth Insurance at the Small Business Center, 2232 Broadway, promised better insurance to customers than a “policy jockey” selling the latest hot deal. With the firm were Cindy Phillips, Alfred N. Rettenmier, Joni L. Meisner, John S. Rettenmier, Mary L. Knox, Dale E. Perry and Michael J. Johnson.

Anderson Computer Center, at 3101 Hoyt Ave., advertised mail order prices. Software specials were the Chuck Yeager Flight Trainer, $29.99; 1988 complete tax package, $79.00; Typing Tutor, $37.50; Word Perfect 5.0, $197.00; and Learning DOS, $37.99.
