LAKE STEVENS — Deputies have made no arrests in connection with the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old man allegedly attempting to steal a car, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, a man, 23, got into a road rage incident with a woman driving eastbound in front of him on 84th Street NE, sheriff’s office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said. The man got out of his car in the 15300 block to confront the other driver and, in doing so, she reportedly told him another man was trying to steal his car.
The 23-year-old then confronted the 41-year-old man and a fight ensued, O’Keefe said. The 23-year-old shot the 41-year-old, who died at the scene.
Investigators believe the 23-year-old shot the 41-year-old with a handgun. O’Keefe could not confirm how many times the man was shot.
The deceased man was reportedly riding a bicycle in the neighborhood before the incident occurred.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased and confirm the cause of death.
The 23-year-old man is cooperating with investigators.
It remained an active investigation Monday.
