EVERETT — The Snohomish County branch of the NAACP wants to hear from people who have concerns that violence may be escalating here against people of color and religious minorities.
The group distributed a press release Monday suggesting that it is concerned that a Feb. 14 police shooting in Arlington, a Jan. 31 stabbing in Everett and the November hanging death of a Lake Stevens teen “may not be isolated incidents.” In each instance, an African American person was hurt.
The group has heard of other concerns, the press release said. “Private meetings with concerned community members are being scheduled to collect more detail. These meetings will not be public due to safety concerns.”
The NAACP has set up a form to gather information about complaints and concerns: www.naacp-snoco.org/complaintissue/
