On March 1, Sound Transit will start offering a discounted fare for adult riders with incomes at or below 200 percent of federal poverty level. Riders will need an ORCA LIFT card to receive the discounted fare.
The reduced rates will be $1.50 for travel within one county on a Sound Transit Express bus, and $2.75 for travel that crosses a county line. For Sounder trains, where fares are determined by distance, the subsidized rate will be $2.50 to $4.25.
The low-income adult rates are the same as regular youth rates.
Fares for Sound Transit Express buses will increase by 25 cents for all fare categories. Sounder train fares are increasing by 50 cents. Adult fares will go up to $3.25 to $5.75. Youth fares will be $2.50 to $4.25, and senior and disabled fares will be $1.50 to $2.75.
If you currently use the “autoload” feature on your ORCA card for your PugetPass you may need to change the automatic refill to the new pass value.
