Suspicious package probed at McChord AFB gate

MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE — Someone drove up to McChord Air Force Base and threw a package over the fence near a gate.

Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said a car left at the scene this morning is apparently stolen.

Deputies, Lakewood police and the military are all carefully checking out the package.

KOMO News reports traffic through the McChord gate was disrupted for a time but is now moving.
