EVERETT — It will soon be tee time for a new TopGolf location at the Everett Mall.
When built, the facility will be three stories tall and take up 68,000 square feet, according to permit filings. It will contain a restaurant, bar, event space and three floors of golf ball hitting bays.
The TopGolf facility will be located at the Everett Mall between I-5 and the existing Regal movie theater.
In March, rumors swirled about TopGolf’s possible arrival to Everett, when Mayor Cassie Franklin announced in her State of the City speech that a “top” entertainment anchor would be coming to the mall. It was part of Franklin’s pitch for a new, more walkable outdoor mall, known as “The Hub @ Everett.” That project is set to be complete by 2026.
In April, Franklin said in an internal city meeting the mall’s owners, Brixton Capital, were in negotiations with TopGolf. Brixton submitted applications for new construction in May, which included the TopGolf facility.
Since then, developers have made a number of permit submissions and resubmissions sharing construction plans, but it’s unclear when the facility will open.
“We don’t have any updates to share at this time,” a TopGolf spokesperson told The Daily Herald on Dec. 26.
Brixton Capital, the mall’s owners, did not respond to emails seeking comment.
TopGolf has 91 locations in the United States, according to the company. Some 23 million people used the facilities in 2019.
