EVERETT — A school bus crash sent a bus driver and a first-grader to a hospital Tuesday morning in Everett.

The bus had stopped to pick up students at 8 a.m. in the 7200 block of Beverly Boulevard when it was rear-ended by a white Ford F-450, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.

The impact shattered glass and folded the yellow bus’ bumper almost like an accordion. The bus driver and a girl were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Two other boys in elementary school weren’t hurt. The driver of the work truck was OK, too.

Police were investigating why the truck driver did not stop. Both vehicles needed to be towed, Snell said.

Students were returning to their first day of classes for the new year Tuesday.
