SNOHOMISH — Two women were seriously hurt in a skydiving accident Sunday afternoon.
The women, an instructor and a student, were tandem jumping when their parachute malfunctioned, Snohomish Fire Department Deputy Chief Ron Simmons said. They opened the reserve parachute but landed hard just south of Harvey Field.
“They hit the ground a lot faster than they should have,” Simmons said.
Medics were called about 2 p.m. One of the skydivers was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The other was taken to an Everett hospital, but was rushed to Harborview later, Simmons said. The women’s injuries didn’t appear life-threatening.
