LAKE STEVENS — Highway 9 through Lake Stevens is set to close for a week starting Friday night between Highway 204 and Lundeen Parkway.
Construction crews contracted by the Washington State Department of Transportation are scheduled to build a roundabout at Vernon Road as part of major road changes to the area near highways 9 and 204. Once finished, the two-lane roundabout will connect Vernon Road on both sides of Highway 9.
The Highway 9 closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Thursday. A detour is planned along Lundeen Parkway and Market Place, and businesses should be accessible as usual, though delays are possible.
Two of the four planned roundabouts are already built at 91st Avenue NE and Vernon Road and at the intersection of Frontage, North Davies and Vernon roads.
Another long closure is ahead this summer for the highway in Lake Stevens.
