SEATTLE — Police say shots fired in downtown Seattle have injured one woman and hit a building.
SWAT officers were reported searching a low-income housing building Monday evening as they tried to locate the source of the gunshots.
Police spokesman Jeff Kappel told The Seattle Times a woman was hit in the hip or leg but did not suffer a life-threatening injury. He said police heard several shots fired. Kappel said one shot apparently was fired into an office building that houses several county agencies.
The injured woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center. She reportedly was shot at Third and Yesler.
Pedestrians were cleared from the area and buses were temporarily rerouted.
