A spin-free zone

Who won last night’s debate? That depends on which spin doctor you’re listening to. Here are a few things we can settle for sure:
Men have lost control: Defying conventional wisdom, a survey found the remote is now just as often in the hands of women when couples watch TV. Men are still 10 times more likely to “accidentally” program the TV to skip the Lifetime network and “forget” to set the DVR to record Oprah.
The Dawgs’ season is on the line: Stanford comes to Husky Stadium tonight for a football showdown the UW desperately needs to win. The matchup might give UW coach Tyrone Willingham some flashbacks to his days as head coach of the Cardinal. Back then, he actually took a team to the Rose Bowl. Players also wore leather helmets, and forward passes were not yet legal.
Bedard will be OK: Shoulder surgery revealed no major damage to the throwing arm of Mariners pitcher Erik Bedard. Bedard also was given a referral to go to Oz and see the Wizard, because the surgeon was unable to locate a heart or a brain.
