Buying soda for the bottles a waste

Anyone who wants an excuse to vote against the next school levy should read the cover story in the Everett School District spring newsletter. The science department has been buying 2-liter bottles of soda and dumping the soda to get empty bottles? The teachers don’t know that empty bottles can be purchased? Maybe even donated by a local bottling company?

I’m glad they have now thought to ask the kids to collect empties. Fifty years ago that would have been standard operating procedure and the teachers didn’t even have master’s degrees.
