Eugene Robinson’s columns provide a needed perspective

I have noticed that some Herald readers are calling for the removal of Eugene Robinson’s opinion piece. One reader went as far as to say that a friend wouldn’t even subscribe to the paper because of Robinson’s articles! I guess they want a newspaper that reflects only their views. Unfortunately for them our community is made up of diverse points of view which makes us richer in every aspect.

The small mindedness of our community seems to be growing at an astonishing pace. It’s because of this that opinions from people like Eugene Robinson are so important in helping us keep our perspective as to what’s happening here and in our nation. If we continue to be close-minded and not inclusive I fear a country divided by hate that may never mend.
