Fabric of Life in Edmonds will feature BFA artist and Brier native Briana Knight in a solo show now through Sept. 15.
Coming off of her Bachelor of Fine Art Exhibition culminating thesis show at East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn., this spring, Knight — a 2004 Mountlake Terrace High School graduate — will showcase the works of her “Terra Incognita” show from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, during the monthly Edmonds Art Walk.
The unknown world of the Earth’s most predominant and inhospitable deep-sea habitat is a fascination to Knight, having grown up in the Puget Sound area. Working with the multi-faceted and layered medium of fibers, Knight uses movement and color to investigate the abstracted, yet organized environment of the deep-sea world. Working in multiple mediums, her combined techniques of original drawings, digital photography, print making, screen-printing, paintings, stitching and book arts create multiple impressions of the mysterious deep.
Knight was also a 2nd place winner in the Artisans Works category at the 2009 juried Edmonds Art Festival.
