In the season of graduations, students get plenty of advice about the “real world” looming in their future (“5 thoughts for grads as the enter ‘the real world,” The Herald, May 18).
Finding meaningful work that pays the rent is a great idea, but sometimes hard to find. In the meantime, many opportunities exist for volunteering to make a difference. Sam Daley-Harris’ new book “Reclaiming Our Democracy” offers a path to do just that. Through his efforts to reach solutions for poverty (results.org) and climate change (citizensclimatelobby.org) he has created organizations that make a difference by working with our members of Congress. People of all ages join these groups, finding new friends, new understandings, and a path to make a better world for everyone. This is a great opportunity for anyone, including new graduates!
