Health care now for-profit pursuit, as Optum demonstrates

It was with great sadness, but certainly no lack of surprise, that Optum, formerly The Everett Clinic, has decided to drop a significant portion of our population that needs to partake of Medicaid, as the Herald reported (“Optum WA cuts care for more than 23K Medicaid patients,” The Herald, Aug. 26).

Special thanks to all of those who allowed health care to become a for-profit pursuit, as if Medicare and Medicaid patients get any kind of decent care to begin with.

I guess things still have to continue to get worse before they get better.
