Herald should have provided update on Everett City Council story

Where is the coverage correcting the record and showing humility and respectful apology?

The Herald did a good job covering the city council proceedings last week in which Council Member Liz Vogeli left abruptly after the vote to reelect council leadership (“Everett City Council reups with Stonecipher, Tuohy,” The Herald, Jan. 5). In that same meeting, Vogeli challenged the number of years that the same two individuals had served in their leadership roles.

Granted the interaction between the council members was not the most professional or easy to watch, but it turns out that Vogeli was, in fact, right in her research. This past Wednesday, this was acknowledged and corrected during council member comments by Council Member Brenda Stonecipher. It was then followed by a very humble and respectful public apology by Vogeli.

I was impressed by Vogeli’s professionalism and sincerity which could not have been easy to do. Vogeli is the kind of leader I value. She is human and we all make mistakes. When mistakes are owned and corrected, they deserve to be covered and published by a respectful paper like the The Herald! Please give credit where credit is due and update the story to reflect such.
