Many lives depending on county’s indoor mask mandate

Thank you, thank you to Snohomish County and Dr. Chris Spitter for the mask mandate (“County health officials enacts indoor mask requirement,” The Herald, Aug. 10).

As a severely immuno-compromised and immuno-suppressed person (from plasma cancer), I along with my family have been pushed back into the house since May (after quarantining since February 2020) and doing necessities only with high risk and difficulty.

This mandate will help to some extent, but as he said, the answer is masks and vaccines. We are also concerned because should I need hospitalization related to my condition or anything else including covid, it might be difficult to access fully, because of hospitals being full with people who didn’t mask or vaccinate; while I and others who did, including staff, are trying to stay alive.
