Partisan politics reflect poorly on Gregoire

After some Dino Rossi supporters recently produced a commercial showing video clips of Gov. Christine Gregoire stating she supports (at least) a partial state income tax, she lamely attempts to rebut it herself in a commercial stating she has never supported an income tax. Incredible.
Now, in a last ditch attempt with the aid of her judiciary friends, Gregoire has mounted, in this last week prior to the election, a sleazy ploy to discredit Rossi by insinuating he had some nefarious connection with the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) in its campaign fund raising and commercial production, forcing him to testify immediately before the election. Shame on her!
The Democratic Party, on her behalf, had earlier filed a lawsuit because Rossi stated his preference as “GOP Party.” How petty. It appears that Gregoire is calling on her own legal background and friends in the state judicial system to bolster her campaign efforts at the cost of the taxpayers.
Though I previously respected Gregoire as our attorney general (at least until she cost the state millions of dollars due to her faux pas in a lawsuit) these are cheap shots that don’t represent the state of Washington and its citizens well nationally. Is this the kind of person we want as governor?
The Democrats have controlled the Governor’s Mansion for 24 years. Let’s get someone different for a change — it might be a refreshing difference from the same old party machine that currently controls virtually every facet of our state government.
