Tips fans misbehaved at bear-themed game

I attended a recent Silvertips game. I am embarrassed to say I am a hockey fan after the way many of the fans acted. The game had a teddy bear theme and there were over 8,000 teddy bears placed in the seats. When the Silvertips scored, the bears were to be tossed onto the ice and if no points are scored during the game, the bears were to be tossed after the game was over. The bears were then to be donated to underprivileged children and the local police and fire departments.

That was the plan. Too bad the fans made a mockery of it. The first time the Thunderbirds scored the ice was pelted with bears, even after the announcer asked everyone to hold onto their bears. I saw three young girls nearby me grab all the bears in a particular row and take off. I also saw a man throw a bear at the back of an usher’s head. How un-sportsman like. Bears and ripped apart bear bodies landed on the ice throughout the game, interrupting it until it was unpleasant to even be there. Then as I walked back to my car, almost everyone I saw was carrying bears they had taken from the game. It made me sick.
