Were things really ‘great’ in earlier decades?

I wonder what era the “Make America Great Again” advocates are referring to. Nobody would care to live in 19th century America or in the first decades of the 20th. The 1940s were horrendous and the 1950s and 60s were full of wars and civil unrest.

Things settled down in the 1970s and have progressed steadily since then. Medicines have improved amazingly, cars have improved in design and efficiency, computes and the internet were developed and cell phones came into being.

TVs have become what people in the ’70s only read about in science fiction. We have the incredible GPS system that has revolutionized travel and so on and so on. Would the MAGA supporters prefer not to have Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid?

So would a MAGA supporters please write and tell us which ‘America’ he would rather live in.
