CHARLOTTE, N.C. — RaeQuan Battle, a former star for the Marysville Pilchuck basketball team, took another step toward an NBA dream recently.
Battle, The Herald’s All-Area Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2019, signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA, according to Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer.
After signing the Exhibit 10 deal — a one-year contract that NBA teams typically utilize for tryouts and training camp depth — Battle will likely play for the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets’ G League affiliate.
Battle, who is a member of the Tulalip Tribes, played five seasons of college basketball at Washington, Montana State and West Virginia. He averaged 16 points and four rebounds last season at WVU. Battle has recently been playing for the Hornets’ summer league team.
