Friday’s prep football results

Arlington loses Wesco 3A North showdown to Ferndale; Monroe remains unbeaten.

Two state-ranked Snohomish County high school football teams lost for the first time this season Friday.

Archbishop Murphy, the top team in the Associated Press 2A state poll, lost to Bellevue 35-21. The Wolverines are ranked ninth in the AP’s 3A poll.

Arlington, ranked 10th in the 3A AP poll, lost to fourth-ranked Ferndale 41-13.

The other local state-ranked team posted a victory Friday. Monroe, ranked eighth in the 4A poll, defeated Cascade 52-22.

Lake Stevens and Glacier Peak posted wins Friday to keep pace with the Bearcats atop Wesco 4A with 2-0 conference records. The Vikings crushed Mount Vernon 72-14, while the Grizzlies outlasted Jackson 48-41 in two overtimes.

Marysville Pilchuck and Mariner won rivalry contests Friday. The Tomahawks beat Marysville Getchell 42-6 in the Berry Bowl, while the Marauders beat Kamiak 21-14.

Lake Stevens 72, Mount Vernon 14 (statistics not reported)

Monroe 52, Cascade 22

Monroe scored the first five touchdowns of the game and coasted to a Wesco 4A win over visiting Cascade.

The Bearcats’ offense totaled 508 yards, with quarterback Jaedyn Prewitt going 16-for-19 for 253 yards and three touchdowns, two to Jason Cyr. Isaiah Lewis, Kainalu Batongbacal and Cyr finished with two touchdowns apiece for Monroe (4-0 overall, 2-o Wesco 4A).

Batongbacal opened the scoring with a 63-yard touchdown run and compiled 192 yards from scrimmage.

Max Nelson had two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter for Cascade (2-2, 0-2).

Shorecrest 45, Lynnwood 7

Shorecrest dominated on both sides of the ball against visiting Lynnwood, racking up 533 yards of total offense while allowing just 118 yards.

Scots running back Ricardo Ruiz ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns, and added a fourth score on a reception. Teammate Chris Lee recorded six catches for 83 yards.

James Huffman led the Shorecrest defense with six tackles, and Brayden Victor stopped a Lynnwood drive with an interception.

Oak Harbor 35, Rogers (Puyallup) 7 (statistics not reported)

Ferndale 41, Arlington 13

Cole Semu ran for 231 yards and four touchdowns to lead host Ferndale to a win over Arlington.

Tallen Williams returned a kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter for the Eagles (3-1 overall, 1-1 Wesco 3A North).

Marysville Pilchuck 42, Marysville Getchell 6

Quarterback Kee-An Ballard threw for three touchdowns to lead Marysville Pilchuck to a decisive victory over host Marysville Getchell in the Berry Bowl.

The Tomahawks (2-2 overall, 1-1 Wesco 3A North) scored all 42 of their points in the first three quarters and allowed the Chargers (0-4, 0-2) just 78 yards of total offense through three quarters before pulling their starters.

Mountlake Terrace 20, Shorewood 0

Brandon Bach had five receptions for 138 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown catch, to help Mountlake Terrace defeat host Shorewood.

The Hawks (3-1 overall, 1-1 Wesco 3A) defense recorded five sacks and held the Thunderbirds (2-2 overall) to just 130 yards of total offense.

Edmonds-Woodway 44, Everett 13

Rielly Chappell threw for three touchdowns in Edmonds-Woodway’s win over host Everett.

Capassio Cherry added two rushing scores for the Warriors (3-1 overall, 1-0 Wesco 3A).

The Eagles (2-2, 1-1) were led by Aldo Yeo, who finished with two rushing touchdowns.

Lakewood 34, Burlington-Edison 17

Austin Lane threw for three touchdowns and added another on the ground as host Lakewood took down Burlington-Edison in Northwest Conference play.

Lakewood (3-1 overall, 1-0 conference) took a 14-3 lead into halftime and took control of the game after striking for the first two scores of the second half.

Lane threw for 231 yards on 21-of-26 passing and tallied 68 yards rushing on 12 carries. Wide receiver John Cox scored twice for the Cougars on seven receptions for 67 yards.

Cascade (Leavenworth) 22, Sultan 5

Cascade scored 13 points in the third quarter to pull away from host Sultan.

The Turks took a 5-0 first-quarter lead with a field goal and safety, but couldn’t score again.

Granite Falls 23, Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) 9

Quarterback Camden Landrum followed up his four-touchdown performance last week with a three-touchdown performance to help lead Granite Falls over visiting Cedar Park Christian (Bothell).

Landrum had 14 carries for 208 yards, and the Tigers (2-2 overall, 1-0 Cascade Conference) recovered after giving up an early 85-yard touchdown run to score 23 of the game’s final 26 points.

Jason He ran for 152 yards on 20 carries and found the end zone once for the Eagles (0-2, 2-2).

King’s 31, Cedarcrest 10

Brennon Blevins threw for two touchdowns in King’s victory over visiting Cedarcrest.

Logan Perrigo led all rushers with 18 carries for 78 yards and a score for the Knights (1-3 overall, 1-1 Cascade Conference).

Shawn Deming returned a kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown for the Red Wolves (0-4, 0-1).
