Von Moos selected GNAC player of year

Seattle Pacific University senior setter Jenna Von Moos has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year.

Von Moos, a Stanwood High School alum, was a unanimous choice by GNAC coaches after leading the Falcons to their second straight conference title. She averaged 13.2 assists per game in helping SPU finish 16-0 in league and 24-2 overall.

Joining Von Moos as a unanimous selection to the All-GNAC first team was Western Washington University junior libero Courtney Schneider, a Snohomish alum.

Earning second-team honors were Seattle University junior outside hitter Nikole Thompson, a Marysville-Pilchuck grad, and WWU sophomore middle blocker Tina Roma, an Edmonds-Woodway alum.

Also, Roma earned first-team recognition and Schneider and Thompson were second-team selections to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America College Division 8 All-Academic Team.

Paintball

DBS Kidz third at PSP World Cup: The Everett-based DBS Kidz paintball team finished third out of 140 teams at the PSP World Cup held Nov. 7-12 at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla.

After advancing to the Division 4 semifinals, DBS Kidz lost its opening game before defeating the Angers squad two games to none, winning the first game 92-16 and the second 94-12, to finish third.

Playing for DBS Kidz were Dusty Cort, Evan Fujioka, Brad Bliven, Brandon Olson, Blake Savinski and Nate Schroeder. Don Cort was the team manager.

Martial arts

Everett team wins 12 medals at Victoria International: Led by 10-year-old Vienna Krumwiede, a team from Pacific Karate in Everett won 12 medals at the Victoria International Karate Tournament held Nov. 4-5 in Victoria, British Columbia.

Krumwiede finished with three gold medals and one silver medal. Whitney Lucas won two gold medals and one bronze and Cabrian Taggart finished with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

Over 150 competitors from British Columbia, Washington and the Cayman Islands participated in the tournament.
