The Athlete of the Week nominees for Oct. 13-19. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Wednesday’s paper.

Landon Smith | Meadowdale | Boys Cross Country

Landon Smith’s time of 13 minutes, 15.4 seconds in a 4,000-meter race at Lynndale Park led the Mavericks to a win over Edmonds-Woodway ant Everett. Smith won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 6-12 by claiming 1,135 (41.38%) of the 2,743 votes.

This week’s nominees

Addison Bowie | Stanwood | Volleyball

The junior captain led the Spartans to a pair of dramatic, five-set victories against Monroe and Everett. She compiled 107 assists, 25 digs and four aces in the two matches to help Stanwood remain undefeated in league play.

Laura Eichert | Lake Stevens | Volleyball

The junior outside hitter dominated against Arlington on Oct. 17 with 35 kills, 12 digs and two aces two days after 14 kills, 13 digs, four aces and three blocks in the Vikings’ sweep of Jackson.

Harper Funston | Edmonds-Woodway | Girls Soccer

The freshman forward recorded a hat trick in the Warriors’ 9-0 victory over Lynnwood on Oct. 15.

Stella Shaw | Jackson | Girls Soccer

The sophomore midfielder recorded a hat trick in Jackson’s 8-0 victory over Cascade on Oct. 15.
