Williamson strikes out 9, AquaSox slip past Hops

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Brandon Williamson struck out nine batters in four innings in his first start of the season and the Everett AquaSox earned a 3-0 win over the Hillsboro Hops on Saturday night.
Williamson, a 2019 second-round pick and the Seattle Mariners’ No. 10 prospect according to MLB.com, allowed just two hits and no earned runs in the quality outing.
David Ellingson earned the win for the AquaSox with two scoreless innings in relief of Williamson. Ellingson struck out four, Brendan McGuigan struck out three in two scoreless innings, and Jarod Bayless struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season.
Carter Bins went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run batted and Zach DeLoach tripled and scored a run for the Everett offense.
Everett (3-2) wraps up the six-game series with Hillsboro (2-3) on Sunday afternoon and then has a day off Monday before its home opener against the Tri-City Dust Devils on Tuesday night.
