College Place student wins photo contest

Amanda Mahoney-Fernandes, a seventh-grader at College Place Middle School, recently won second place in a national photography contest. Her black-and-white photo was of her cousin, Jonnie.

The contest, sponsored by Adobe Digital Kids Club, had more than 800 entries. Mahoney-Fernandes was awarded more than $150 worth of Adobe software. She has previously won other awards from the Edmonds Arts Festival.

She learned of the contest through her teachers Jim Corbett and Marilyn Dauer.Her photo can be seen at www.adobe.com/education/digkids/contest/main.html.
